Skills

Not just a list of tools — here's how each of these actually gets used day to day.

Instrumentation & materials characterization

  • ICP-OES, AAS, HPLC & flame photometry Operated, calibrated, and maintained during a dedicated research-analyst post at the University of the Punjab for quantitative water-quality and trace-elemental analysis; used since to track reaction intermediates and degradation products.
  • FTIR & UV–Vis spectrophotometry Used for surface functional-group analysis, dye-degradation monitoring, and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance for band-gap estimation of doped photocatalysts.
  • XRD, SEM/TEM Applied for phase/crystallinity confirmation and morphology imaging of synthesized nanomaterials and biosorbents.
  • General lab safety Supervised laboratory sessions across multiple institutions, enforcing safety protocols while students built their own experimental and analytical skills.

Teaching

  • Organic, Physical, Analytical & Environmental Chemistry Lectured undergraduate and postgraduate students at UCP and Minhaj University Lahore, integrating theory with applied research examples.
  • Spectroscopy & Instrumental Analysis Taught alongside hands-on lab supervision so students connect instrument theory to real operation.
  • Curriculum design As Faculty Partner in UCP's Student Pedagogy Partnership Programme (Spring 2026), co-designed an AI-resilient interdisciplinary Environmental Chemistry course with a student partner and embedded AI-resilience strategies across it.
  • Research mentoring Guided 13+ MPhil and BS students through proposal writing, experimental design, data analysis, and thesis completion (2022–2026).

Research methods

  • Experimental design Design degradation and biosorption experiments end-to-end — varying catalyst/sorbent dose, concentration, pH, and time/irradiation conditions to isolate what actually drives performance.
  • Kinetic & thermodynamic modelling Apply pseudo-first-/second-order kinetics, Langmuir–Hinshelwood analysis, and equilibrium-isotherm/thermodynamic characterization to both photocatalytic and biosorption systems.
  • Mechanistic analysis Use reactive-species scavenging to identify dominant radicals (•OH, O₂•⁻, h⁺) and establish structure–activity relationships in doped-oxide photocatalysts.
  • Molecular docking & ADMET analysis Apply computational cross-checks to catalysis and structure–activity questions, and to interpret degradation pathways.
  • Scientific writing & publication Nine peer-reviewed articles in internationally indexed journals; active reviewer for five journals including Scientific Reports and Microchimica Acta.

Digital & office

  • MS Office & Google Workspace Used daily for coursework material, data tables, and departmental documentation.
  • Canva Used for presentation and outreach graphics, including material for departmental seminars and conferences.
  • Turnitin & EndNote Turnitin for plagiarism screening of student and research work; EndNote for reference management across publications and supervision.
  • Social media & events management Served as Social Media and Events Coordinator at UCP, leading departmental outreach, seminars, conferences, and workshops, including Media Coordinator duties for the 2nd ICEHST-2024 conference.
